wärmflasche – eine Hommage

a project with compagnie lou 2025/26

wärmflasche – eine Hommage (working title) is a piece about the celebration of a rubber object and the confrontation with neediness, self-care and the balancing act between rest and work in the neoliberal age.

Sometimes humorous, sometimes serious, the two performers use elements of acrobatics, dance, partnering and object manipulation to explore the tense relationship between fragility and neediness, strength and powerlessness – wobbling, bending and squeaking, jerky in friction – their exploration of the properties of the object leads them to an absurd and poetic visual language and the question of how we can (finally?) find peace.

The theme of carrying (care work) runs through the piece in all its facets: overcarrying, self-care, asking for care, taking care of someone, receiving care. In addition to this main theme, the two performers, guided and inspired by the sound and flexibility of the rubber object, fall into elliptical actions. These represent a resistant being, a counter-narrative to our overly economised society, allowing for a pause, letting oneself fall into unproductivity.
