circus performer, artist and teacher

Tanja Peinsipp is a circus artist, performance artist, set and costume designer, and mother. She is a member of compagnie lou and zirkus kollektiv kaudawelsch. As a self-taught, multidisciplinary aerialist, she specializes in aerial silk, aerial rope, and the exploration of new aerial apparatuses; she also works with object manipulation and partnering. Her artistic focus lies in the exploratory fusion of contemporary circus, performance, material experimentation, and performative deconstruction, transforming everyday and industrial objects into poetic stage spaces that offer a tangible, physical experience. Tanja has trained in the field of contemporary dance in the movement LAB study group, in technics of Pranayama, Hatha Yoga and currently she got really excited in the martial art Kung-Fu.

In 2024, she was a recipient of the federally funded work grant for contemporary circus. In November 2024, she premiered her solo piece „heck a CARe less WORK,“ co-produced with the ON THE EDGE festival for experimental circus art. In 2025, she was invited to Paris for a „Seeding Lab“ organized by the European circus network *circus next* with her project „endschalldämpfer.“

In addition to her artistic work, she is studying for a master’s degree in Theater-Film- and Media Studies with a focus on Circus Studies at the University of Vienna. She interweaves scientific working methods with artistic collaborative processes.

Alongside her artistic practice, she teaches aerial arts, empowering participants to develop their own quality of movement. Focusing on finding intuitive pathways, pushing limits and increasing playful lingering in the air.
